Band pictures are on Tuesday 9 October, during band classes.
Band students need to wear at least the top part of their concert black uniform as described in the band handbook for these pictures.
The concert attire for all middle school band members is concert black:
Gentlemen: Black closed toe dress shoes
Solid black socks
Black slacks with black belt or cummerbund
Long sleeve white dress shirt or tux shirt tucked in with sleeves rolled down and
Black bow tie (Bow ties are $4 and may be purchased from Mr. Clinkscales)
Ladies: Black closed toe dress shoes
Appropriate black hosiery
Long black dress, long black skirt (meaning the dress or skirt is ankle length), or black dress slacks with a long sleeve black dress blouse
Ladies may also choose to wear the “tux” outfit the gentlemen wear.
East Jackson Middle School Holds 6th Grade Band Camp:
Saturday 11 August 2012 is the day for EJMS’s 6th grade band camp. The times for this day are 8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Instructors for each instrument will be there to help your child learn the basics of his/her new instrument. Lunch will be provided to the students. Parents, we could always use your help. We will need help preparing for lunch (cups, drinks, plates, napkins) and cleaning up after lunch.
The schedule for this day will be:
8:30 a.m. Sign-in for students
8:50 a.m. Welcome, announcements, staff introductions, and room assignments
9:00 a.m. Students go to assigned rooms to get their new instruments and begin learning
from their assigned instructor; breaks will be determined by the instructors
12:00 p.m. Lunch for students and instructors
12:45 p.m. Full band rehearsal
1:30 p.m. Brief concert in the EJMS Cafeteria for parents to hear and see what
their child has learned
2:00 p.m. Everyone goes home and enjoys the weekend

The EJMS Band Spring Concert will be on Tuesday 1 May at 7:00 p.m. call time for all students is 6:15 p.m. Students will be wearing concert black for this performance.
Tuesday 20 March 6:00 – 6:30 pm 6th Grade Band only
The evening of the 20th is our Rising Sixth graders Eagle Night. The evening will begin in the EJMS Gym. This will provide a chance to perform our music for the future students and parents of the EJMS Band Program. Attire for this evening is concert black like students wore for the Christmas Concert and Eagles Excelling Academically performances. 6th Grade band members should report to the band room by 5:40 so the students can get warmed up for the performance. The ceremony will begin at 6:00 and we will perform some time between 6:00-6:30. After the performance and the fifth graders are released to tour the school, all band students will need to help return all equipment to the band room before going home with their families.
Any student who fails to pass off his or her LGPE music adequately will not be allowed to attend LGPE with the band even if the student performed at the Pre-LGPE Concert. Pass-Offs will happen on Wednesday, so help your child practice and prepare!
Monday 13 February 7:00pm 7th and 8th Grade Bands
Our Pre- LGPE/Festival Concert has been moved to Monday 13 February. This event is REQUIRED of all 7th and 8th grade band students. This event is in preparation for the actual LGPE in March. This performance will be evaluated by three judges. Students should arrive at the EJCHS band room by 6:30. The dress for this event is concert black as described in the band handbook. This is an important event to prepare us for LGPE! Students MUST perform at this concert to be eligible to perform at LGPE/Festival and the Spring Tour!
This week’s after school rehearsals are:
Jazz Band Monday and Wednesday 3:45-5:00
Pep Band Tuesday 3:45-4:30 District and All-State students may also stay after to work on audition material.
Pep Band will be performing at the pep rally on Thursday. After school on Thursday, we will have a brief practice then play at the basketball games. The games begin at 4:30 and should end between 7:15-7:30. Students should bring some money for concessions. Parents, please be at the school by 7:15 to collect your band student. If the game goes until 7:30, the pep band will be released at that time.
Band Students have received their band picture proofs today. If you decide not to buy pictures, the proof MUST be returned. All proofs and orders need to be returned to Mr. Clinkscales no later than Friday. If you decide to order photos, follow the directions on the envelope and return no later than Friday.
Band Picture Retakes will be next Thursday 10 November starting at 9 am. Band students needing to have their picture made should have their concert black uniform and instrument for the picture.
