Reminders for Tuesday, May 16

Art Gala forms went home today which included a detailed list of items that will be up for auction on Saturday night. ALSO, it’s not too late to make your 5pm dinner reservation! Just fill out the bottom portion of the Art Gala form and return it TOMORROW!

5th Grade Graduation invitations and dress code notices went home today. Please check the list of items listed for attire – fifth grade teachers will be checking with each student tomorrow – if you’re in need of a specific item on the list, just circle or highlight it, and return the list to your child’s homeroom teacher tomorrow. 🙂

AG Day is Thursday – students will need to wear their 5th grade signature shirt (they received this on Monday and wore it to UGA). Don’t forget a towel, sunscreen, hat/sunglasses, and attire for lots of walking and heat!

Ledbetter’s homeroom will finish painting art work on the glider swing and tree tomorrow, so be ready!



Busy week ahead! Reminders

Today we visited UGA, and it was a success! 

Tomorrow, at 10am, students will be graduating from the CHAMPS program – family members are invited to attend. Students will receive a CHAMPS tshirt in the morning to be worn during the ceremony, so all they need to do is pick out pants and shoes!

Thursday is AG Day at EJCHS 9am – 1:30pm. We will be outside the entire time, so students are encouraged to wear sunscreen, bring a hat and/or sunglasses, dress comfortably and wear shoes made for lots of walking! We will have lunch on the field, so you can purchase a school sack lunch or bring a lunch from home. 

Students will receive Yearbooks on Friday, followed by a Yearbook signing at 8:30am. Then, the Seniors of EJCHS will visit EJES for the “Senior Walk” at 9:30am. Later, at 1pm, the Hydropump (one of the Fun Run rewards) will be soaking students and teachers!

5th grade graduation night is next Monday, May 22 at 6:30pm – more details to come!

Reminders – Tuesday, May 9

Today we visited EJMS, and your child received a flyer concerning band/chorus – please sign and return. The yellow flyer answers “Frequently Asked Questions” and includes a supply list for 6th grade. Check your child’s book bag/binder for these materials!

FIELD DAY has been changed to THURSDAY, MAY 11 (instead of Fri. May 12) – a concession list with prices went home today. Students who ordered a field day tshirt will receive this on Thurs. morning

The 5th Grade Recorder Jam has been rescheduled for FRIDAY, MAY 12 @ 1pm (instead of Thursday)

The UGA field trip is still scheduled for Monday, May 15. Please make sure your child has returned their signed permission form before Monday. $3 will help pay for bus transportation. 

Georgia Milestones scores are in – a formal letter will go home tomorrow with each student and will include their score in each area (ELA, MATH, SCIENCE, and S.S.). If your child has to retest ELA and/or MATH, a separate letter will be included.

5th Grade Signature and Field Day tshirt orders are due TOMORROW, May 2

Ledbetter ELA – finish your Raz-Kids activities and quizzes. Come in early if you need computer access for the quizzes.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to help with our class Art Gala project, especially the glider swing that needs a piece of wood replaced on the seat! Also, we need assistance sanding and painting. If you’re available, please email Mrs. Ledbetter ASAP!



Ledbetter Art Gala project – help needed!


Ledbetter’s class is planning on creating a decorative tree  – the leaves will be spray painted (metallic colors) and students will decorate the leaves with inspirational phrases, words, etc. with the theme, “Turning Over a New Leaf” 

SO, we need help spray-painting each leaf of the tree, the bark/trunk, and decorating the basket (outside and inside). If you’re available to assist Ledbetter’s students, please email me at Also, if you have any IDEAS to help make our art project better, please send your thoughts!

Relay for Life “Change Cancer” Fundraiser

Please support our “Change Cancer” drive for Relay For Life! Bring in change to your homeroom teacher starting TODAY (Monday, April 24) through Friday, May 5 – the winning classroom will receive a PIZZA PARTY!

Please help EJES show their support in our “House United” county wide effort for Relay For Life! The event is Friday, May 5th at JCCHS.  Please be there at 6 p.m. for our EJES team lap.

EJMS FFA Chicken Q May 12

The East Jackson Middle FFA is now selling tickets for our first annual Chicken Q Plate Sale. 
Plates are $8/each and will include a smoked chicken half, chips, beans, bread, and dessert.

Plates will be available for pick-up Friday May 12th at the EJMS AG Room 503 from 3:30-5:30
All proceeds go towards benefiting the members of the EJMS FFA Chapter.

Thursday, March 30 is the Georgia Milestones Night at EJES 5:30pm – hope you can attend!
5th grade students will receive a “Milestones MANIA!” Tic-Tac-Toe board on Friday to do some GMAS studying!

5th grade students took the Reading MAPS assessment last Friday (teachers have discussed results with students), and we’ll be taking the Language Arts MAPS assessment TOMORROW afternoon during ELA (12:45 – 2:15pm)

Students took the Spring Reading MAPS test today, so scores will be shared with them on Monday

Ledbetter IDEA – due to MAPS testing today, we postponed the Cold War assessment for Monday. Students – continue studying! You have your Cold War HyperDoc, partner Cold War Activity on Google Classroom, and the textbook is great resource, so read pgs. 57 – 66 for details about the Cold War – stopping the spread of Communism, Berlin Airlift and the Berlin Wall, Josephy McCarthy and Nikita Khrushchev, NATO, Korean and Vietnam War, and pg. 74 for Space Race details
