Field Trip Tomorrow 5/18

17 May

Tomorrow is our field trip to UGA. If students are not buying a school lunch please make sure they bring a lunch. Some other things students need to bring; money to spend in the bookstore (if you choose for them to), a raincoat or poncho, a small umbrella, and cell phone or camera for pictures. Students do not have to bring book bags unless they owe me work. If it is raining we will not have a picnic on the campus as planned, we will be returning to eat lunch in our room. If you would like to join us,  you may follow the bus. Once we get to the arches, where the bus is dropping us off, you will take a left on to College Ave. and there is a parking garage 2 blocks down. Please remind students to stay with the group at all times. Thanks for your help.

First Day of Testing is Tomorrow, April 20th!

19 Apr

First, let me say, your student is ready and is going to do well on this test, if they take their time, and try their hardest. Secondly, please do not stress them. The more stressed they are the harder the test becomes, because their brain freezes and they will not remember what they know. So, in lieu of getting stressed here are some things I want you to do. Tell your child to go play outside this afternoon. Then, eat a good dinner, and go to bed early. Lastly, in the morning, keep the routine as normal as possible and do not stress them over the test, also, have them eat a good breakfast, if possible one that is full of protein. They truly are ready and they are going to be fine. I say, bring on the test, because your child is going to rock this test!

Mrs. Bryant

P.S. Students should not bring book bags or technology tomorrow. The only thing they will need is their agenda, math journal, and social studies journal. Thanks for all you do. They really are great kids.

Parent University & Georgia MILESTONES

25 Feb

Dear Parents,

Coming home with your child today is a packet of information about Parent University, and the assesslet that your child recently took. Please do not take this packet apart, but please review this packet carefully, with your child. The first thing that you see is the invitation to join us at our Parent University on Thursday, March 3rd. I hope you will be able to attend. The information that we will be disseminating will help you, help your child navigate through the GA Milestones. The Parent University will have a morning session, and an evening session. Please sign and return this by Monday. The next two red sheets are information for you to better understand your child’s score. Please take some time and read through this and go over it with your child. We will be discussing this scoring during the Parent University. Then, sign the second red sheet. The next document you will see is your child’s assesslet. On page 2 you will see your child’s first score which is trait 1 on the red sheet. On page 3-5, of the assesslet, you will see your child’s extended response to the prompt they were given. On the bottom of page 5 you will see your child’s second score for the extended response. This is trait 2 on the red scoring sheets of the packet. On page 6 and 7, of the assesslet, you will find your child’s rough-draft of the extended response. The last document in the packet is the actual assesslet its self. This is the actual assesslet that your child took. I hope this information is helpful as you navigate through the packet. Once again please do not take this packet apart. I will be going over all of this with students next week during our writing time. We will be looking at their responses and going over how they can improve responding to questions like this. This is a great learning tool for us as we are quickly approaching the actual GA Milestones Assessment. Thanks for your time. I will be answering your questions at the Parent University on March 3rd.
